A Moment of Recognition That Means Everything
When the City of Evanston highlighted my journey during Black Business Month, I felt a deep sense of gratitude. As the Founding Manager of Beards & Bellas, Evanston’s only Clean Beauty Supply, being recognized by my hometown wasn’t just an honor—it was validation.
Our mission has always been bigger than products. Beards & Bellas exists to provide a safe, inclusive, and culturally affirming space where beauty and wellness are celebrated without compromise. To have that mission recognized by the city I was born and raised in, during a month dedicated to honoring Black entrepreneurship, was truly humbling.

The Story Behind Beards & Bellas
The city’s spotlight captured key parts of my journey.
Roots in Evanston: As a lifelong Evanstonian, I understand the city’s vibrancy, diversity, and community spirit. These values inspired Beards & Bellas from the very beginning.
Professional foundation: My background in Quality Management Systems and Regulatory Affairs shaped my commitment to safe, effective products. Early work in retail and modeling sharpened my eye for presentation, branding, and customer experience.
Why I created Beards & Bellas: I saw a gap in beauty supply stores—many catered to certain communities but not all, and few prioritized safety. There wasn’t a true inclusive Clean Beauty Supply in Evanston. So, I built one.
Today, Beards & Bellas offers:
Non-toxic grooming and skincare
Plant-based braiding hair and protective styles
Formaldehyde-free lotions and clean body care
Curated indie and minority-owned brands
We also integrate art, music, and cultural events into the shopping experience, creating a store that feels more like a community gathering space.

One of the most exciting parts of our journey is the addition of the Sabrosura Coffee Bar inside Beards & Bellas. Inspired by Latin and Caribbean flavors, it extends our mission beyond beauty.
