The CROWN Act—short for Creating a Respectful and Open World for Natural Hair—is a law that bans discrimination based on hair texture and protective styles like braids, twists, locs, and afros. It’s been passed in 27 states, but it still isn’t the law nationwide.
This isn’t just policy—it’s deeply personal.
For Black and Brown communities, our hair is sacred. It’s a source of pride, identity, and power. Yet for generations, it’s also been a target of discrimination, whether in schools, workplaces, or everyday life.
